Alien Domination by Bernard Hopkins
At 48, IBF Light Heavyweight Champion Bernard Hopkins entered the record books this October by defeating his challenger, Karo Murat, in a clear decision. He became the oldest fighter in history to defend a world title. What’s more is he has demonstrated that well-honed skills (and no small degree of talent) can safely extend a fighter’s time in the sport.
It was this skill and experience, which made the difference in the defeat of his 30-year-old opponent. Power and combinations were seen from both sides, but Hopkins measured use of offense and defense prevailed at the end of twelve. He is a marathon runner, not a sprinter. And he is still the man to beat.
