Santa Clara Levi’s Stadium played host to the “Formation World Tour” on Monday May 16, 2016. Security was at high alert due to threats made against the pop artist, we were told by security. Concerts goers where treated to a brief pre-show performance by Hip Hop artists Too Short and E40.

and her all-female crew of backup dancers hit the stage around 9 pm. The two-hour show opened with “Formation” from her new album and video project “Lemonade” to a sold-out crowd at Stadium. A Spectacular Holographic 60-foot-tall LED cube towered over the stage and rotated with images of the Queen herself and backup dancers along with scenes of her Lemonade Video.

Whether this was meant to address her marriage to Jay-Z and possible infidelity issues or not is uncertain what is certain is that Beyoncé is a talented vocalist, dancer and performer. The songs list were delivered at times by a sultry, vulnerable, and strong woman. Beyoncé’s emotional journey and healing was all intertwined in her choice of songs and performance.
She performed songs from her current album Lemonade and old fan favorites. The playlist included: “Sorry,” “Me, Myself and I, “Hold Up,” “Freedom;” Vanity’s “Nasty Girl,” Halo,” and Destiny’s Child favorite “Survivor”

“Thank God I am alive to witness Prince,” she said then performed an emotional rendition of Prince’s Ballad “The Beautiful Ones,” Which followed by The original recording of “Purple Rain” playing and the Holographic 60-foot-tall LED cube illuminated in Purple while thousands of smartphones lit up the stadium.

The night came to a close with “Halo” from her 2009 “Sasha Fierce” Album and once again proved that nothing can break her and proved to be the towering talent fans came to see.
